Notes
Podkayne of Mars is not a true Heinlein juvenile novel but is often listed in that series due to its teenage protagonist.

The ending of the novel was re-written prior to publication at the insistence of the publisher. The original ending was published in Grumbles from the Grave (1990) and later editions of Podkayne of Mars include both versions of the ending.

First published as a serial in Worlds of If Science Fiction (November 1962 and January 1963 issues).

The image opposite and the blurb below are from the 1970 printing of the New English Library paperback edition, SBN 450002780. Cover illustrator unknown.

Publisher’s Blurb – Lower Cover
The major cult author of our time challenges the concepts of morality and social organisation in PODKAYNE OF MARS.

Through the eyes of youthful, adventurous — and beautiful — Podkayne, Robert Heinlein examines the worlds of tomorrow.

'Heinlein's inimitably skill at the -unobtrusive exposition of provocative ideas makes this a story to delight'.
NEW YORK HERALD TRIBUNE

'Swift, believable, detailed and excellent . . . a slam-bang of adventure'.
THEODORE STURGEON
