Eddie Jones and Ramsey Campbell were both members of LiG, the Liverpool Science Fiction Group. When Jones saw Frank Utpatel's cover for Campbell's first book, The Inhabitant of the Lake and Less Welcome Tenants (Arkham House, 1964), he claimed he would have done better. Dating from around 1968, Jones' cover for Demons by Daylight was the result, although its publication was delayed until 1973 by the death of editor and Arkham House co-founder August Derleth. |
